FRP and KFRP——The central reinforcements of the leather cable

FRP, fiber-reinforced composite plastic, is a commonly used center reinforcement for outdoor fiber optic cables; Nowadays, cables are more and more widely used, and cables use FRP as center reinforcements in addition to using KFRP as center reinforcements.

FRP (Glass Fiber) has the following properties:

(1) Light weight and high strength
The relative density is between 1.5~2.0, only 1/4~1/5 of carbon steel, but the tensile strength is close to, or even more than carbon steel, and the specific strength can be compared with high-grade alloy steel. As a result, it is highly effective in aviation, rockets, spacecraft, high-pressure vessels, and other applications that require weight reduction. The tensile, flexural and compressive strength of some epoxy FRPs can reach more than 400Mpa.

(2) Good corrosion resistance:
FRP is a good corrosion-resistant material, and has good resistance to atmosphere, water and general concentration of acids, alkalis, salts, and a variety of oils and solvents. It has been applied to all aspects of chemical anti-corrosion, and is replacing carbon steel, stainless steel, wood, non-ferrous metals, etc.

(3) Good electrical properties
It is an excellent insulating material used to make insulators. It can still protect good dielectric properties at high frequencies. Microwave transmittance is good, and it has been widely used in radomes and so on.

KFRP is a new type of high-performance non-metallic fiber optic cable reinforcing core, which is widely used in access networks.

KFRP has the following properties:

(1)Light weight and high strength
Its specific strength and specific modulus far exceed that of steel wire and glass fiber reinforced fiber reinforced fiber cable reinforcing core;

(2)Low expansion
In a wide range of temperatures, the linear expansion coefficient of aramid fiber reinforced fiber reinforced cable reinforcing core is smaller than that of steel wire and glass fiber reinforced optical cable reinforcing core;

(3)Impact resistance and fracture resistance
The aramid fiber reinforced fiber reinforced fiber cable reinforcing core not only has ultra-high tensile strength (≥ 1700MPa), but also impact resistance and fracture resistance, and can maintain a tensile strength of about 1300MPa even in the case of breakage;

(4)Good flexibility
The reinforcing core of aramid fiber reinforced optical cable is light and easy to bend, and its minimum bending diameter is only 24 times the diameter. The indoor optical cable has a compact structure, beautiful appearance, excellent bending performance, and is especially suitable for wiring in complex indoor environments.
