Ribbon optical fiber is an optical cable processed by multiple single optical fibers through coloring, stacking and secondary plastic fiber belts. There are two types of optical fibers, namely encapsulated type and edge bonded type. The former can withstand transverse pressure and the latter is thinner. There can be 4, 8, 12 or 16 fibers in each band. The spacing of optical fibers in the band is 0.28mm (for 4 and 8) and 0.3mm (for 12 and 16), which are arranged in order. There are flatness, i.e. deviation requirements in the vertical direction, which shall not be greater than 30, 40 and 50um (depending on the number of optical fibers in the band), so as to facilitate cluster (fusion) connection. The in band optical fiber uses the chromatography orderly, which is conducive to identification during maintenance and connection. The volume of the optical fiber ribbon is small, which can improve the package density of the optical fiber in the optical cable, and can form a large number of cores, such as 320 to 3456 cores. It is suitable for the rapidly developing optical fiber access network.
